Day 3

Met my host parents on this day. Had to call and speak to them in French letting them know I was coming over and asking what was a good time to arrive. It was nerve-wracking. Ma mère d'accueil (host mom) asked if I knew Spanish.. come to find out she's half Spanish so sometimes she cheats and talks to me in Spanish.

So I'm living in Montreuil (a banlieue, which means it's right outside the city area) in a house that is about 200 years old. Its' 3 floors and I have the attic all to myself: a bedroom, kitchen/desk, and bathroom. They even have a garden :) can't wait til the weather gets warm to enjoy that.

Had a welcome dinner with my host family where we ate and then played a game that is played during the holidays, especially for Three Kings Day. The game basically consists of a cake with a hidden "prize" inside and who ever gets the prize in their slice is the King (or Queen) of the table. The youngest person at the table has to go under the table and call off the names of the people at the table in which they are then given a slice of the cake. When everyone's name has been called, everyone starts eating their slice quickly to see who has the prize.

The cake used: une galette (pretty tasty actually)
